Marathon Rock
13.1 Minneapolis – where the party meets the pavement – and where SPIRIT OF THE RADIO will be delivering the glorious radio rock of yesteryear at the huge finish line after-party. If you’ve never run a full marathon before, do not fret. We’ll do the fretting. Our instruments are fretted for rock. You just have to run 1…3.1 miles. Or not even. Just be there for the big after-party and relish in the music everyone knows and loves.

This Saturday night SPIRIT OF THE RADIO – the greatest radio rock show in the entire solar system, including orphaned Pluto – returns to Shakopee and hits the big stage at Arizona’s. A week after igniting the sensation of galactic musical pleasure from the masses at Canterbury, we’re back possibly no more than 500 yards east of the race track to conjure everyone’s favorite radio music memories live.

So we’re told we’re really going to like playing this gig. What, naked women running around everywhere? “No. Naked horses.” Sure, we’re game. Game is right. Canterbury Park on June 25. Horses flying and rock pumping.
At the core of Applefest10
Before we get to the news about headlining 9/17 at the wildly popular Applefest10 in La Crescent, let’s first acknowledge the terrible punnery that has emerged. I went with ‘at the core’. Could have done something with rind or peel. Plucking the orchard? I should stick with other fruits. Like eggplant. Which is a fruit. Point is that we’re going to radio rock La Crescent so hard it’s going to reverberate in all the berries, guavas, currants and pomegranates in town for years to come.

We enjoyed the enthusiastic response from our fan base mixed with the regular Saturday night crowd. 4 hours is a lot of music but y’all were sure dancing and cavorting and hollering. Even dancing for all the ballads! That was so sweet. Made us tear up. Makes you remember what it was like back during the platinum era when those songs hit the air for the first time. All the high school gym floors and best friend’s basements with the lights low, swaying slow. Ahh, the sweet society of remembrance made alive with each SPIRIT OF THE RADIO performance!
